Welcome back to school everybody! I hope that everyone has been having a fantastic start to a new semester full of alarm clocks, shoving your face with food, and staying up way past your bedtime to “finish homework”. I am a college sophomore and I go to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Unfortunately, our campus is known for very plain, boring, and unfashionable outfits. Yes, we have very high dress and grooming standards that limit what we can wear, but that is absolutely no excuse for wearing jeans and a t-shirt day in and day out. It drives me nuts.
I would say that approximately 40% of the students on our campus actually care about how they express themselves through their personal style. The way you dress says massive things about you. It dictates what people think of you at first glance. If you constantly wear the same thing, does that mean that you are a boring person? If you experiment with trends and find quirky ways to express your personality, does that mean that you are up for living life to the fullest and trying new things? Yes and yes.
Here are some shots that I got of some gorgeous students that found a balance between style and comfort…and still managed to dress for the heat. Awesome.
I spotted these lovelies chilling on the grass outside by the Talmage Building on Monday. On the left you can see that this student went with a cropped tan pant, flowy cream top, cropped denim vest, and vintage pendant necklace. This is a great outfit for walking from class to class in comfort and in style. Love the backpack and you can find one here (:
If you look back at a few of my other posts, I’m sure you could recognize this blue hi-low skirt from Cotton On (similar here) that is absolutely perfect for ridiculously hot weather and for pairing with most tops in your current closet. She paired the skirt with a light sweater with a crochet detail and an orange tribal-inspired necklace. The colors really compliment each other and create visually appealing contrast. And of course, FLATS ARE A MUST.
I found these ladies in the Wilkinson Center by the ID Office. Their outfits are the epitome of style and confort. On the left, this student wore a simple navy and white stripped maxi, a waterfall necklace, and cute silver sandals with a bow detail. Simple and chic is the way to go! On the right, we have some chambray, some more maxi, some gold accents, and a belt for cinching. Is there anything else to say other than the she fact that she looks great?
*TIP* For school, comfort is key. Instead of resorting to those cheap Old Navy flip flops, try going for something embellished or metallic!
Sorry that been a while since I last posted but I was without a laptop for a while…BUT IM BACK BABY (:
xoxo,
Sarah Jeane
